Dorothy Cann Hamilton founded the French Culinary Institute and instituted the French Culinary Institute scholarships with one goal in mind: " to create a world-class culinary school that blended classic French techniques with American inventiveness in an exciting, fast-paced curriculum." The French Culinary Institute counts master chefs like Jacques Pepin among its distinguished faculty and Food Network stars like Bobby Flay among its alumni and visiting lecturers. In addition to offering six-month programs of day courses or nine month evening classes, The French Culinary Institute is renowed for offering a series of classes targeted toward the amateur chef. Full-time students and amateurs alike receive hands-on training at L'ecole, the school's very own fine dining restaurant. Every student, regardless of their program, is eligible to apply for one of the French Culinary Institute scholarships. French Culinary Institute scholarships are available to U.S. citizens and permanent residents in amounts ranging from a few thousand to ten-plus thousands. The French Culinary Institute scholarships include awards four Restaurant Management Scholarships in the amount of thousands each targeted toward those seeking restaurant management careers. The FCI Military Scholarship, twenty awards of $5,000+ in the past has been targeted toward students with an interest in culinary and pastry arts. Eligibility of French Culinary Institute scholarships in this category is limited to those applicants who have served in any branch of the military services for at least 30 days. Another very popular one of the French Culinary Institute scholarships is The Societe Philanthropic/ The Friends of the FCI scholarship, in the past, a $6,000+ award to one student planning to enroll in either the Pastry Evening Program or the Culinary Evening Program. The highest award of the French Culinary Institute scholarships is The Friends of the FCI Fall Award, a $10,000+ scholarship grant has been awarded to one individual starting class in either October or November and pursuing studies in either Classic Culinary Arts or Classic Pastry Arts. |
